What is Speaker Series?
Palliative Care Tasmania’s ‘Compassionate Communities Speaker Series’ is a great mix of industry experts covering specialty topics in end-of-life care including diverse topics such as legal, guardianship, finance, mental health, grief and more.
This is your chance to access specialty information that informs the broader supports available for someone diagnosed with a terminal illness/ who is older and frail and for those that are supporting/ caring for them.
Soula Houndalas has worked with COTA (Council On The Ageing) Tasmania since 2012, on a variety of research projects and in community engagement roles. She is a sociologist with post-graduate qualifications in Social Research, with a passion for statistics and developing evidence-based pathways to increase social justice for Older Australians.

Aged Care Know How ‘Planning for the Future: Living Well at Home. Embedding wellness & re-ablement’
- What does wellness mean to an older person?
- Designing programs for wellness: encouraging re-ablement thinking, or goal setting for increasing well-being.
- Tools to support and embed wellness and reablement thinking, goal setting; also “better” conversations.
- Co-designed tools equip service providers, assessors and allied health professionals and embed re-ablement thinking with clients; along with awareness of short term care options. The tools relate closely to older people’s thinking and understandings about “journeys” into wellbeing.
Health care professionals providing information to the public, Aged Care staff, Carers, Volunteers, HACC or CHSP providers, community groups and individuals.
